The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
The Leumkemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. LLS has investedmore than $600 million in research since 1949- over $71 million in 2008-specifically targeting leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Last yar alone, LLS made 6.3 million contacts with patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals.
LLS is committed to curing leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, and helping patients and their families. LLS also provides financial assistance to patients; sponsors scientfic conferences around the country; produces educational materials and videos; and runs dozens of Family Support Groups nationwide.
Team In Training (TNT) began in 1988, when Bruce Cleland of Rye, NY formed a team that raised funds and trained to run the NY City Marathon in honor of Cleland's daughter Georgia, a leukemia survivor. The team of 38 runners raised $332,000 for LLS's Westchester/Hudson Valley Chapter, Team In Training was born and has grown into the world's largest endurance sports training programs.
TNT offers various endurance-sport programs to help you reach your goal. Participants can choose to run or walk a marathon or half marathon, swim, bike and run a triathlon, embark on a century bike ride (100 miles) or set out on a hike adventure.
